Introducing NiceLabel v5, the new version of the leading labeling solution (March 14, 2007).

The NiceLabel product family is growing and now includes three major product series: NiceLabel Standard Series, NiceLabel Enterprise Series and NiceLabel Developer Series (coming in spring 2007).
The extended NiceLabel family now offers a truly complete range of bar code and RFID label design and printing for mobile, desktop and enterprise environments, including label printing solutions for Windows and Web application developers.

This latest addition to the NiceLabel product range is a group of products gathered under new brand name, NiceLabel Standard Series, composed from the already traditional products NiceLabel Express, NiceLabel Pro and NiceLabel Suite.

What's new in general:

• NicePrintQueue -The print job manager module is now available in NiceLabel Pro and NiceLabel Suite. You can compare this new module to the Windows spooler; however, the NicePrintQueue offers more control over network printers and more functionality.
• Label reprint and job logging - now you can track your print job history and reprint any job from the print log.
• Complete multi-lingual support - NiceLabel is now Unicode compliant in all modules.
• Pocket NiceLabel now .NET compliant - Pocket NiceLabel is now built on the .NET Compact Framework and supports a wide range of mobile devices. And many other new features that will assure the valued-added factor to your labeling operations

NiceDrivers 4.3.04 are released (March 14, 2007).

All NiceDrivers have been updated to version 4.3.04. New version provides solutions to know problems, more optimized operation and new features, mainly regarding the bidirectional support and enhanced communication with the printers. The real-time printer statuses and job statuses can be reported to NiceLabel software and managed from one location.

NiceDriver brand also expanded with support for the new family of thermal printers. The owners of Open Date printers will benefit from optimized label printing when using new NiceDrivers for Open Date printers.

NiceLabel Service Release - v4.1 Build 949 (November 15, 2006).

V4.1 Build 949 is a service release to existing NiceLabel software 4.1. The build 949 provides solution to reported problems and strenghtens the stability of the software.

The main addition in NiceLabel software v4.1 is documentation in the German language. NiceLabel software was already available in more than 20 different languages. However the full software documentation is available for some languages only.

Now NiceLabel software has the following documentation available in the German language:

• Help files for NiceLabel editions (Express, Pro, Suite)
• User Guides for all NiceLabel editions (Express, Pro, Suite)
• NiceLabel Quick Start Guide

If you already own NiceLabel software in the version 4 (any build), you can update to the build 949 for free. Just download the new installation and install NiceLabel on top of the existing build.

NEW! NiceLabel Enterprise Series - the new, flagship product line of NiceLabel software family

NiceLabel is becoming a synonym for the most complete labeling software family, now offering solutions from desktop to enterprise level under one brand name.

NiceDrivers 4.2.01 are released for all printer brands

All NiceDrivers have been updated to version 4.2.01. New version provides solutions to know problems, more optimized operation and some new features. For details visit the Release Notes page.

NiceDriver brand also expanded with support for the new families of thermal printers. The initial release of new drivers has support for the following models (for details see the driver download page online):

• Carl Valentin: Compa models, DPM models, Dynacode models, Micra models, Pica models, SOLO model, SPE models, Spectra models, Vario models

Please note:
NiceDrivers from version 4.2.00 support only the modern 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server. If you have older Windows operating system, make sure to download older version of NiceDrivers.

Discontinued support for older Windows platforms in NiceDrivers

This is an important announcement regarding Windows operating system support in NiceDrivers.

To cope with the new demands from the market and to better support upcoming new editions of NiceLabel software, we have dropped the support for older Windows operating systems. We do not want to abandon users of older Windows operating systems, but because Microsoft has stopped supporting these systems and we want to give the majority of users the maximum comfort with NiceDrivers, we believe the discontinued support is a step in the right direction and it also follows the course of general IT development.

Without the limitations of older operating systems the new NiceDrivers will be better, faster and packed with more features than ever.

You will still be able to enjoy the benefits of NiceDrivers on the older Windows platforms. The NiceDrivers for such platforms will still remain accessible, but will remain with the current features. You can expect the development and new features for the modern Windows platforms only.

The NiceDriver version that delimits the operating system support is 4.2.00.

If you have any of the following Windows operating systems, use NiceDrivers BEFORE version 4.2.00: Windows 9X, Windows Me and Windows NT 4.0.

If you have any of the following Windows operating systems, you can continue using the NiceDrivers starting from 4.2.00: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows XP x64 and Windows 2003 x64.

64-bit NiceDrivers are here!

A new generation of NiceDrivers is ready for use in 64-bit environments

If you're planning to switch to 64-bit OS soon you will find our new range of 64-bit NiceDrivers a must-have part of your NiceLabel installation.

The 32-bit and 64-bit NiceDrivers are functionally the same, but are optimized for respective platforms. The latest 64-bit NiceDrivers versions are compatible with Windows XP x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition.

To take advantage of 64-bit NiceDrivers you need to install NiceLabel software version 4.1.

Bidirectional NiceDrivers available for download (February 20, 2006).

Bidirectional printer drivers are the next level in the evolution of thermal printer drivers industry and they represent a significant step towards satisfying customer’s demands for faultless high-speed printing.

“Standard Windows printing is a one way process, where user does not get much feedback information after the print job is sent to Windows and this is far from optimal workflow demands that are common nowadays” says Uros Podlogar, head of driver development in Euro Plus. “Generally, we’ve made a selection of printers that are supporting bi-directional communication and we’ve designed additional printer driver components that enable status detection. Status requests are sent to the printer on regular intervals or before each label is printed. If any errors are detected, printing process is paused until the error is removed.”

Corporate environments with larger production and distribution facilities can now take the advantage of the Status monitor utility, a tool added to the NiceLabel bi-directional printer driver that monitors one or more printers, also on remote locations. User can check a real-time status for each printer from one location and react in time if any problems occur. That is a great prevention from production line breakdown related costs.

“From a technical point of view I can say that printer administrators will benefit from facts that monitoring includes standard and printer specific error messages. For some printers additional dialogs are implemented, where user can check and change certain printer specific parameters” Uros Podlogar underlines some of the technical characteristics.

At this time bidirectional drivers are available for the following brands: CAB, Imaje and Intermec. Support for other printer brands will also be available with the next releases.
